There are two ways – as part of a sentence or when leaving custody.
Before a young person is sentenced for an offence, an officer from the Youth Offending Team (YOT) writes a pre- sentence report for the Court. At this stage, if the young person is considered suitable for The Campus, then the YOT officer will recommend The Campus in this report. Deciding whether or not a young person is suitable will be done in collaboration with Campus staff. At court, if the judiciary agree with the recommendation, they will name The Campus as the Education provider when sentencing.
When a young person leaves custody, they could also be required to attend The Campus under terms of their licence for release.
